Ben Robertson, PhD, Senior Director of Test Method Development and Analytics at XCMR, is a biomedical engineer and scientist with 15 years of experience in defense, academia, biopharma, and medical devices with a focus on test method development, analytics, and automation. Ben thrives at the intersection of scientific discovery and technical development and is best known for creating novel experimental platforms to facilitate exploration outside the confines of commercially available systems. He has leveraged this skillset to understand blast-induced traumatic brain injury, benefits and functional constraints of robotic exoskeleton assistance, control strategies for dynamic stability in fast-running quadrupeds, small and large molecule drug discovery/development, and performance of medical devices within and outside the scope of prescribed standard test methods.
At XCMR, Ben brings these skills to bear on challenges related to developing and implementing test methods focused on characterizing the performance and safety of far UV-C based disinfection technologies - particularly when the scope of standard test methods is inappropriate and/or inadequate to asses device performance.
Dr. Robertson received his undergraduate degree in Applied Physics from Emory University, and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the joint department at UNC Chapel Hill and NC State University. Prior to joining XCMR he spent time at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the Spence Lab at Temple University, as the first non-founder hire at Edgewise Therapeutics, and worked as a consultant in the Biomedical Engineering and Sciences practice at Exponent, Inc.
