Nancy Havill, Senior Director, Infection Prevention at XCMR, is also an Infection Prevention Manager for Yale New Haven Health System responsible for 300 ambulatory services. She has over 20 years of experience in Epidemiology and Infection Control with a focus on the role of healthcare surface contamination in transmission of healthcare-associated pathogens and the prevention of hospital-acquired infections.
She has conducted numerous studies related to the use of no-touch room disinfection, including vaporized hydrogen peroxide and UV-C, evaluating novel disinfectants and products and strategies for monitoring the adequacy of cleaning and disinfection practices. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was responsible for the FDA issuing an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the use of a vaporized hydrogen peroxide protocol for reprocessing respirators for reuse during the pandemic.
Nancy has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on her work in infection control, epidemiology and microbiology. She has presented her work both nationally and internationally.
She earned a BS in Medical Technology from the University of Bridgeport and MS in Healthcare Administration and Management at Salve Regina University. She is board certified in Infection Control (CIC), an active member of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC), past Program Director and member of APIC New England and serves on the Editorial Board for the American Journal of Infection Control.
