XCMR announces the appointment of Dr. Ernest R. Blatchley III as principal scientist of process engineering. Dr. Blatchley, a distinguished expert in environmental engineering, joins XCMR from Purdue University, where he serves as the Lee A. Rieth Professor in Environmental Engineering. His decades of experience, specifically in the field of ultraviolet radiation and disinfection processes, will be integral to advancing XCMR’s work in innovative environmental solutions.
Dr. Blatchley is widely recognized for his contributions to the development of photochemical reactor theory. He introduced the concept of dose distribution and was among the first to apply computational fluid dynamics to predict reactor behavior. These models now form the foundation for the design of contemporary photochemical reactors, which are critical to XCMR’s environmental technology portfolio. Dr. Blatchley holds four US Patents and has authored more than 110 peer-reviewed journal articles and 13 book chapters.
In addition to his academic and research achievements, Dr. Blatchley has presented his work across six continents, further cementing his status as a global authority in environmental science. His book on the theory, methods, and applications of UV radiation (“Photochemical Reactors: Theory, Methods, and Applications of Ultraviolet Radiation”, published by Wiley), further cements his role as a thought leader in the field.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ernest Blatchley to XCMR,” said Richard Rasansky, CEO of XCMR. “His expertise in environmental engineering and UV radiation will significantly enhance our capabilities to commercialize high-impact products. Ernest’s track record of innovation and scientific rigor aligns with XCMR’s mission to develop impactful, sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.”
