XCMR is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Katja Auer as Chief of Staff. With nearly two decades of experience in the Ultraviolet-C (UV-C) industry, Dr. Auer brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in pathogen reduction, applications engineering, regulatory affairs, quality management, education, and complex systems leadership.
Dr. Auer has been an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) since 2007, holding various leadership roles, including chairing Technical Committee 2.09 UV-C for Air and Surface Disinfection. She currently serves as Chair of SSPC185 Methods of Test To Inactivate Microorganisms In Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems With UV-C Lights, is a Member of ASHRAE’s Handbook Committee, and a Voting Member of GPC 37 Guidelines for the Application of Upper-Air (Upper Room) Ultraviolet Germicidal (UV-C) Devices to Control the Transmission of Airborne Pathogens. She also serves as Convener for US TAG to ISO/TC 142 WG2.
Dr. Auer’s expertise spans a wide range of Germicidal Ultraviolet (GUV) or UV-C technologies and applications, including mobile (robots), upper-room GUV, HVAC, and fixed mount Operating Room (OR). She also possesses in-depth knowledge of chemical applications, such as fumigation, including Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) technologies, and their integration into Environmental Services (EVS) processes. Her background in implementation, including International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/Food and Drug Administration (FDA) internal auditing, Conformitè Europëenne (CE) Mark, Underwriters Laboratories (UL)/Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL)/Intertek, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance, coupled with her project management experience in acquisitions and integrations, further strengthens her capabilities.
Dr. Auer’s educational background is equally impressive. She holds a BA in Chemistry from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Arizona, an MBA from the University of La Verne, and an EdD from the University of Houston, with a focus on Professional Leadership in Health Science. Her top skills include leadership development, strategic planning, infection control, healthcare, and team leadership.
